The two founders of BAM!Sticks Maximilian Lohrmann and René Kraft want to further develop the market for drumsticks with their bamboo products.
Lightweight sticks with a new type of rebound.
BAM!Sticks are sustainable, robust and flexible bamboo drumsticks. The new drumsticks are handcrafted from bamboo, giving them a unique combination of durability and weight. BAM!Sticks advertise with a unique “Tone & Feel” – they should sound concise and crisp on drums, deep and rich on cymbals. In addition, the BAM!Sticks founders swear by the innovative rebound that the sticks receive through the natural flexibility of bamboo and the lower weight should enable fatigue-free and fast play.
The old classics produced more sustainably
In addition to the four classic sizes (5A, 5B, 2B and 7A), BAM!Sticks also sells four mallets and a combo model. Although the much more sustainable bamboo is a bit lighter than common hardwoods, Lohrmann and Kraft still promise the sticks to be robust. Due to its dense cell structure, bamboo has a particularly hard-wearing surface, which should give BAM!Sticks resilience and durability.
BAM!Sticks “Pre & Post Screening”
Since bamboo is a natural product, the raw material is not always of the same weight. This presented the founders of BAM!Sticks with a challenge, because they wanted to produce sticks that were as constant as possible and always weighed the same. “With the BAM!Sticks “Pre- & Post-Screening”, we not only manage to match the weight of the sticks in a pair, but also to produce the individual pairs with almost the same weight,” says Maximilian Lohrmann before the actual production, the density of the raw material is determined. This makes it possible to manufacture a product (e.g. the 5A) from almost identical raw materials. “After production, we then weigh the sticks again and form pairs of the same weight – to ensure optimal playability!”, explains co-founder René Kraft.
Sustainability: from raw materials to shipping
Sustainability is very important to BAM!Sticks. In addition to the fact that bamboo is inherently sustainable due to its extremely fast growth, the company makes sure, for example, that no plastic is used and only sends packages with a sustainable delivery service (DHL GoGreen). The two founders will also donate part of their profits to the environmental protection organization WWF every year on Forest Day. Further actions for a fully sustainable production are planned.
