With music roots that spanned decades before his father, “Hammond Sam” Avila set him atop an amp to celebrate his birth, you can say Andy’s DNA might carry a note or two with some rhythm and blues.
The Los Angeles, CA based drummer and vocalist comes from a distinguished bloodline with the patriarchs of the Avila household, Father Avila (Walter Trout, Los Lobos, Chris Cain) and Grammy-nominated uncle John Avila (Oingo Boingo); that opted for family jam sessions for their band AVILA with brother Danny Avila on the guitar.
Carrying a name synonymous with the East L.A. music scene that birthed his father and uncle, the younger Avila honed his craft on the drums playing throughout the city as he shared stages alongside artists Walter Trout, Slash, Jimmy Vivino, Chris Cain, Dave Hidalgo from Los Lobos and Delgado Bros. to name a few. From infancy, heart, soul and the best gear were the only tools he needed to perform.
Now as a member of Andy Frasco and the U.N., Avila and his kit perform 250 shows a year as they tour across 10 countries playing in festivals from North America across the waters to China and Europe.
