Arguably one of the rarest Ludwig finishes makes a triumphant return! Originally cataloged for one year in 1960 as”Oyster Pink Pearl,” this wrap came into production in 1958 and until 1963, with an estimate of only 100 kits ever made. This finish was part of an entirely new color lineup for Ludwig with Oyster Blue Pearl and Oyster Black Pearl. The drum finishes of this era were a statement of innovative new styles to compliment the “abstract expressionism style” of the 60s.
From today’s perspective, Oyster Pink Pearl was a finish quite ahead of its time. Its near obsolete nature turned this finish into a cult classic that hits some of the biggest resale values in vintage drums. It has gained incredible fanfare and demand over the years. We are proud to bring a modern-classic tribute to this iconic finish.
Like all other Vintage Oyster finishes from Ludwig, these are authentically produced by a hand blending process to recreate this illustrious look. No reproduction printed material here. Only the highest quality of handcrafted acetate film! Ludwig’s reissue respects the craft of age-old material production and brings back one of Ludwig’s most-in-demand finishes.
