Recently “Not So Modern Drummer’s” Bob Campbell conducted a fascinating with A & F president/founder and veteran drummer Ramy Antoun. Ramy has created a modern drum company with a vintage style, feel, and esthetic. Driven by his own interests he has searched the world for vintage hardware to influence his new line or hardware that took over 2-years to develop. The hardware is lightweight, inventive, and designed with new elements to ensure their robustness.
The drums are handcrafted rolled metal and welded together creating a uniquely open sound. In 2019 A&F announced working with Sabian to develop a new line of cymbals called the “Ankh” line, a unique and refreshing approach to a cymbal. The line is now expanded and interestingly they are now rolling drums with the Sabian alloy to create a unique drum.
This is an interesting interview that anybody looking for a new sound, is inventive, or likes vintage hardware.
