The countdown has begun for the DRUM ISLAND FEST 2025 — the first and largest international competition-festival for children’s percussion instruments in Ukraine. Young drummers have until March 1, 2025, to submit their applications for a chance to participate in this highly anticipated event, set to take place from April 4-6, 2025, at the Krakow Cultural Cluster.
This festival, which has become a staple in the Ukrainian music scene, is now in its third year. After two successful editions in 2023 and 2024, the competition has grown significantly, drawing participants from all over the world. More than 150 young drummers will compete on the main stage, showcasing their skills and passion for percussion.
What to Expect at Drum Island Fest 2025?
The festival promises to be an exciting and enriching experience for all participants and attendees. Highlights include:
- World-Class Jury and Guests: Young musicians will have the opportunity to perform before a panel of renowned drummers, such as Alexander Murenko, one of Ukraine’s top drummers and the founder of the DVRZHills Recording Studio, and Alirio Torrealba, a percussion virtuoso from Venezuela.
- Masterclasses and Performances: Aspiring drummers will benefit from masterclasses led by top professionals, alongside performances and sounding sessions designed to inspire and educate.
- Exhibition Area: Participants and guests can explore an exhibition showcasing the latest in percussion instruments and accessories.
In addition to the competition itself, DRUM ISLAND FEST 2025 has an important charitable mission — supporting children affected by the war through music and fostering the growth of the Ukrainian percussion scene. The festival continues to be a platform for promoting the Ukrainian shock school and giving young talents a chance to shine on an international stage.
