Drumming News
DrumCraft has revived its highly anticipated Bell Brass snare drum, delivering the sought-after snare sound associated with legendary bands like Metallica, Nirvana, and Rage Against The Machine. The new 14″x6.5″ model offers drummers access to the powerful, cutting tones of a cast-shell, bell brass snare without the steep price tag.
The term “Bell Brass” originates from Tama’s iconic ’80s Mastercraft Bell Brass model, known for its thunderous backbeats on classic albums. Although Tama reissued their version in 2023, its price of over £3000 left many drummers longing for an affordable alternative. DrumCraft aims to fill that gap with their new offering, which features a cast bronze alloy known for its weight and full-bodied sound.
This isn’t DrumCraft’s first attempt at a heavy cast snare; the brand previously released a similar model. However, the new Bell Brass drum comes with several improvements. The shell thickness has been reduced from 6mm to 3mm, aligning more closely with the traditional Bell Brass design.
The new model also features triple-flanged rims on both sides, differing from the previous version that included a die-cast batter-side rim. It is equipped with DrumCraft’s Nickelworks throw-off, and all hardware is finished in satin chrome for a sleek look.
Additionally, the drum comes outfitted with a DrumCraft-branded Remo CS Coated batter head, a Remo snare-side head, and DrumCraft 20-strand snare wires, resulting in a total weight of 12KG.
With this reintroduction, DrumCraft makes the iconic sound of the Bell Brass snare more accessible to drummers, combining quality and affordability in one impressive package.
