KickTone, makers of the multi-purpose dynamic full-range bass drum microphone with the same name, have acquired KickPort® International Drum Products, the company recently announced.
KickPort is best known for its flagship namesake product, a patented and award-winning acoustic enhancement accessory that improves the feel, power and tonal qualities of bass drums of all sizes. A breakthrough in drum accessory technology that is now considered an industry must-have, KickPort is used by hundreds of thousands of drummers worldwide. In addition to the KickPort, the company offers a variety of drum acoustic products including the CajonPort™, the D-Pad™ bass drum impact pad, KickPort T-Ring™, and the FX Series™ Sonic Enhancement Ports.
“Since the KickTone Microphone was designed to attach to the KickPort, this acquisition makes sense, as the two products make one really great product when combined,” says KickTone Microphones owner Terry Morton. “As a drummer myself, I have always looked for products on the market that would enhance the sound of my drums, and the KickPort was one of those products that made a big difference at a low price point. I plan to continue developing new products that meet that criteria and take KickPort to the next level.”
While existing customers can expect the quality and availability of the KickPort to remain the same, they can also expect additions and enhancements to the company’s suite of products. With the acquisition news, Morton has also announced that KickPort will eventually release a full line of microphones designed to integrate with their ports for the floor tom and rack toms, as well as the existing KickTone and more.
Business operations for KickPort will continue under the name KickPort International. The ownership change will not impact existing distribution, dealers, artists, or customers.
