Simon Phillips is one of the most prolific and influential drummers of his generation, who can easily be described as a genuine institution in the world of drums. The list of artists he has collaborated with (be it live or in the studio) would take up all the space we have for this article. Here are just a few of them: Mike Oldfield, The Who, Pete Townshend, Judas Priest, Jeff Beck, Tears For Fears, Gary Moore, Toto, Jack Bruce, David Gilmour, Brian Eno, Joe Satriani, Jon Anderson.
For 35 years, Simon has successfully been leading his own fusion band, where he isn’t only responsible for drum parts, but also for composing and producing. In February 2022, Phillips released the album “Protocol V“, recorded by the band’s fifth studio incarnation: Ernest Tibbs (bass guitar), Otmaro Ruiz (keyboards), Jacob Scesney (saxophone) and Alex Sill (guitar).
