In celebration of its 400th anniversary, Avedis Zildjian Co. (Zildjian), the world’s oldest cymbal maker, orchestrated a momentous all-star concert on September 20th, 2023, at Boston’s Roadrunner venue. With a legacy dating back to 1623, Zildjian aimed to honor this historic milestone by featuring renowned artists associated with the music industry’s giants.
Craigie Zildjian, the 14th generation owner and Zildjian Executive Chair, President, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to celebrate Zildjian’s milestone anniversary in our hometown with our closest family and friends. This is a special opportunity to reflect not only on our history but to share the excitement of what lies ahead.”
The Zildjian 400th Anniversary Concert included various highlights, such as an evening of music and entertainment hosted by comedian and drummer Fred Armisen, the induction of eight drumming legends into the Zildjian Hall of Fame, performances by world-class drummers, a charity auction for MusiCares, and an exclusive VIP experience for fans to interact with their drumming heroes.
Zildjian CEO John Stephans anticipated an unforgettable night, emphasizing the celebration of Zildjian’s legacy and the anticipation of inspiring musical expression for the next 400 years.
Performing drummers include: Aaron Spears, Adam Deitch, Antonio Sanchez, Adam Nussbaum, Ash Soan, Chris Fryar, Devon Taylor, Evan Hutchings, Gary Novak, Jamie-Leigh Schultz, Josh Dun, Justin Faulkner, Marcus Gilmore, Gorden Campbell, Nate Smith, Roni Kaspi, Russ Miller, Marc Quinones.
This event also honors Eddie Bayers, Terri Lyne Carrington, Dennis Chambers, Sheila E, Peter Erskine, Omar Hakim, Steve Smith, and Ringo Starr.
