Recently the owner of two instrument rental companies in Connecticut, who was a school music teacher herself for many years, reached out to the D’Addario Foundation. Ronni Ginott was ready to retire and made an extraordinary offer to donate ALL the remaining inventory from her companies to the D’Addario Foundation & Hungry for Music – which amounted to roughly 3,500-4,000 school band & orchestra instruments!

This act of kindness couldn’t have come at a more opportune time as we embark on our new project, the Immersive Music Challenge. Many of these instruments will be used to help schools across the US launch brand new immersive music programs in the 2024-25 school year, with more in years to follow.

Jeff Campbell, Founder & Director of Hungry for Music, worked tirelessly nearly every day, all day for weeks to clear out the warehouse by the end-of-October deadline & get the instruments safely stored elsewhere. He rallied up dozens of volunteers, meeting many folks in the neighborhood including a non-profit located next door to the warehouse who helped clear out a massive amount of heavy shelving. As Jeff said, “the people just started showing up”. Several loads & transports in vans, 26-foot trailers, and even a 52-foot trailer later, the instruments are now at both Hungry for Music & our facilities ready to be inventoried, assessed, repaired if necessary, and donated to students in need.

Soon, 3,500+ students across the country will receive the instruments they need to kickstart or continue their music education. Thank you Ronni for your immensely impactful donation!
