It’s with incredibly sad news that I report that Jeremy Berman (Drum Tech, Orange County Drums, Q Drums) has passed away. What’s amazing is that I know so many people in the drumming community, from several decades, at all levels and I still never met Jeremy.
I first became aware of Jeremy in our post for his GoFundMe page on August 23, 2022 and although I never met him I felt I got to know him. The Drum History Podcast conducted an interview with Jeremy Berman and Max Cuzor a few weeks ago, Jeremy and Max are the owners of the Q Drum Co.. This is where I learned the most about Jeremy, his history, in his own words. Below I have posted that episode, in honor of Jeremy; please consider watching it.
Since the first day of the announcement of his battle with stage 4 cancer, there has been such an outpouring from the drumming community, he really meant a lot to so many people. Posts are just now starting to pop up, Ray Luzier, Eric Moore, and more have all posted on his passing.
Remo wrote a quick overview of Jeremy:
“The Remo family mourns the loss of renowned drum manufacturer and world-class drum tech Jeremy Berman.
Beginning with Orange County Drums and Percussion (OCDP) in the 1990s, Jeremy honed his skills and founded The Q Drum Company, which specialized in hand-crafted metal drums. Jeremy’s drums have been played by top drummers around the world for decades and are highly prized for their unique designs and tonal characteristics.”
I am very saddened, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family, especially his young daughter. Please keep Jeremy’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Please consider contributing to Jeremy’s GoFundMe HERE.
Rest peacefully Jeremy.
