Grammy-nominated artist, drummer, and producer, The Pocket Queen (Taylor Gordon) announces the launch of her new online course, The Pocket Queen: Moving at Your Own Tempo, on Soundfly. “PQ” shares her dynamic approach to drumming in a series of hands-on tutorials that range from drum basics to advanced rhythm concepts, deftly weaving in life lessons and insider tips, taking students on a compelling journey. The course is available today as part of Soundfly’s subscription library of artist-led online music courses.
PQ’s rapid ascent from New Orleans to Berklee College of Music to first call performances with a who’s who of stars is a tribute to her talent and work ethic. Performances with artists such as Beyoncé, Adam Lambert, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Alicia Keys, and others have fuelled an enthusiastic global following. Many know PQ from her engaging social media presence — fans embrace her videos, Instagram Stories and other online activities as part of a growing family of supporters that she fondly refers to as the “Pocket Club.”
Drums, however, only tell part of the story of this versatile artist. PQ is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, arranger, and music producer. She’s produced tracks with Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, and Luke James, and her work with Kehlani earned her a Grammy nod. PQ’s self-produced and independently released single, “We Came to Move” (off Groove Theory, Vol. 1) was featured in Apple’s 2021 launch campaign for the iPad mini.
Drawing from these successes, PQ’s class offers something for every artist and content creator. Soundfly subscribers will learn:
- How to build tight, funky grooves
- What it means to build a “pocket”
- How to develop individuality and authenticity
- How to conquer fear and vulnerability
- How to perform with intention and purpose
- And the secrets behind how The Pocket Queen creates inspiring content that sounds as good as it feels.
Speaking to what she hopes students will gain from this course, PQ declares “you should gain a deeper understanding of yourself.”
The Pocket Queen: Moving at Your Own Tempo features 40 videos across more than 70 lessons, including breakdowns and demos, activities, downloadable graphics and learning materials, and access to Soundfly’s exclusive Discord community where students can ask questions and get feedback on their work.
