STEVE PILGRIM is a co-founder and the Creative Director of the ‘Be One Percent’ charity. He contributes backing vocals as well as drums to the Weller band, and has in the past played guitar alongside Weller. His drum solos, however, are some of the highlights of gigs for fans during several songs (last year it was during Picking Up Sticks in the encore). Pilgrim sits elevated on the stage behind Weller.
The Liverpool-born musician also writes, sings and produces. Steve is a distinguished solo artist in his own right having released several LPs, though like Andy Lewis, his solo work has slowed pace in recent years as he tours the world with Weller. Pilgrim has also toured with the reformed Liverpool band Cast when original drummer Keith O’Neill was unavailable due to work commitments, and was a member of The Stands before his departure to concentrate on his solo work, shortly before the band split up.
